What is Boudoir photography?
Boudoir photography is about portraying sensuality, boosting confidence, and delivering empowerment. A boudoir session tries to capture your sexiness in an intimate, comfortable setting. A popular misconception is that you need to be naked to do a boudoir photo shoot; this is not true. You can wear anything from a turtleneck sweater to nothing but a bed sheet, and you can show as much or as little skin as you want. The rule, however, is that whatever you wear should make you feel comfortable, ooze sensuality, and bring out your sassiness.
Do you provide wardrobe? What should I bring?
Clients are responsible for bringing their own wardrobe. A normal session allows for three or four outfit changes, so please bring anything that you feel looks good on you. The boudoir style is intended to bring out warmth and sensuality in the subject, so I would suggest bringing at least one nice lingerie set. However, if you are more on the conservative side, an off-shoulder sweater/t-shirt or a sexy black dress will work. I recommend trying your outfits on at home to make sure they fit properly and stay in place as you move. You should try different positions—lie on the bed, stand up, sit down, etc.—and make sure you can move comfortably. You can bring more than four outfits to the photo shoot (as a “just in case”), but please bear in mind you will be able to use only three or four.
How long will my session last?
A standard session is two hours (three hours if hair and makeup are included). Clients should expect to spend a few minutes for arrival and greetings, followed by approximately one hour in hair and makeup (if selected), and then approximately two hours for shooting time, including wardrobe changes and lighting/set arrangements. To avoid disturbing other clients, please don't arrive more than five minutes before your scheduled session. Your scheduled end-time is fixed regardless of a late arrival, so please be on time to ensure that you get the most out of your session.
What is the difference between unedited vs professionally edited images?
This is better explained with images (click on one image, then click again to see how it changes):
What if I want to book a longer session? Is that available?
Yes, absolutely. We can shoot all day if you are up to it! Each additional hour is $250. Every additional hour must be paid in advance at the time of the booking; simply make an additional “booking” for each additional hour you want. If you opt for an extended session, additional options open up for multiple outfit changes, revisiting hair/makeup mid-session, etc., so please contact me so that we can discuss what you are looking to achieve and how much time you will need.
How do I book my session?
Do you provide hair and makeup?
Yes! A professional female hair and makeup artist is available at your request. If you choose not include a hair and makeup artist for your session, please come ready to shoot at your session's designated time.
I would love to book a session but am concerned about the privacy of my images. How is that managed?
No worries. I provide different levels of privacy with respect to the photos I take. I have clients on all ends of the privacy spectrum, from those not wanting any images transmitted electronically or saved (even in secure, online file-sharing platforms) to those who allow me to use their images for promotional purposes. If you have a specific concern, please don't hesitate to contact me directly so I can ensure your needs are fully addressed.
When should I book my session?
Events do sell out, so we recommend booking as early as possible. Day and time slots are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you are booking with a friend or group, you definitely need to get everyone secured on the schedule early.
How long before I can see my photos?
Like everything else in life, it depends! However, you can expect to see all of the unedited images from your shoot within two weeks of your session. Please allow three additional weeks to see your final retouched images. If you need your images earlier, no problem! Just let me know in advance, and we will work something out.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes, but he/she will have to wait outside the shooting area unless you need special assistance from your companion. Many clients opt to have their sessions with a friend, so get a friend to sign up for a session with you, and we can make sure you are booked together so you can have your experience together.
